As part of our mental health and well-being curriculum at Stratford Primary, we were keen to explore a new initiative, working with Pets as Therapy, to provide weekly sessions for the children to interact with a pet at the same time as developing their literacy, confidence and concentration skills. We have a visit from Kath and her four-year old Cavapoo Bobby each week and the children take it in turns to read to Bobby. The visits are having such a positive impact on the children's educational, social and emotional welfare and it is proving to be such a fulfilling and therapeutic experience, for the children, and staff alike, which is a key focus for our school this year.
